To Our Members

Dear Sisters & Brothers:

Your officers and stewards of Local 9158 SENA have been in regular touch with each other and with the City of Boston regarding work requirements during the COVID-19 Crisis.

I want to assure you that we are available for your questions. In fact, we already raised and settled some member questions with the City. For the most part, the City has displayed a desire to accommodate our members.

The unions of Boston recently shared a conference call and pledged to support each other in our dealings with the City, and in any other contingency.

Like many of you, we’re monitoring the latest news for its implications for all of us on the job, as well as for our families. If and when directions change from the Federal government and US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the State of Massachusetts, or the City of Boston, we will be in touch.

In the meantime, we ask our members to heed best practices as found on the CDC website: cdc.gov/coronavirus. Stay safe by keeping your distance from anyone not in your family, and by washing your hands regularly.

We hope this will be over quickly and we extend our best wishes to you and yours.

In March a Motion For a Bylaws change

To Article VI Salaries and Expenses for officers 

Was put to the floor by the E-Board in March in read and seconded, It was also read in Aprils Meeting and Mays both times as well seconded. All three meeting it passed with none opposed

The new Bylaw took affect in June.

To Article VI Salaries and Expenses for officer

That the Vice Presidents stipend be increased to match the Financial Secretary stipend as long as the Vice Presidents job includes the duties of grievance chair.

If or when the grievance chair duties are removed from the vice President position then stipend would revert back to the current stipend for the vice President.

The new stipend is to take effect April first of this year 2017. After the 3rd reading in June it would be retroactive and paid on that second quarter stipend.
