Dear City of Boston Employee/Retiree,This year’s Annual Enrollment period is April 29 through May 17 2024. This is the once-a-year window when you can make changes to your benefit selections for coverage effective July 1st, 2024.During Annual Enrollment, you can:Enroll in new benefits you do not currently haveModify existing coverage based on your evolving healthcare needs.Add or remove dependents in response to changes in your family situation.Cancel any unnecessary coverage (must show proof of alternate coverage.)Annual Enrollment is the only time you can make these changes this year without a qualifying life event (marriage, birth, etc.), so it’s important to review your current coverage now, consider you and your family’s healthcare needs in the coming year, and take action if needed.

If you wish to make changes to your coverage:You must complete the Health Insurance Enrollment Form and return it to the Health Benefits & Insurance team by May 17, 2024 at 5 PM.If you are adding a spouse or dependent, you must provide verifying documentation:Adding a spouse: include a copy of your certified marriage certificateAdding a dependent: include a copy of the birth certificate or certificate of appointment as legal guardian for each new dependent to be coveredIf you are enrolling in one of our health plans for the first time, you must complete the Health Insurance Enrollment Form and the Life Insurance Enrollment Form. Both forms are included here.PLEASE NOTE: All required documents must be completed and returned together — partial submissions will be voided. Return via email to HBI@boston.gov or;Return in person to the Health Benefits & Insurance Office Room 807, City Hall
If you wish to maintain your current coverage:
If you do not wish to make changes to your current health insurance enrollment, you do not need to take any action. Your current selections will roll over.
