We Need Every Member of Congress to Speak Up

Tell your Senators and Representative to demand a fully functioning NLRB.

The NLRB—usually led by five board members— is responsible for union elections, investigates unfair labor practices and resolves cases of wrongdoing brought by workers, unions, or employers. Two weeks ago, the president took an unprecedented and possibly illegal action by firing a member of the labor board, Gwynne Wilcox. There are now only two sitting members of the NLRB, leaving the board short of the minimum number needed for any decision-making. By firing Wilcox, the President impacted the board’s independence and undermined 90 years of precedent.

Thousands of you have already taken action to urge your Senators to sign a letter to the Administration demanding Wilcox’s reinstatement. We are now urging every single member of Congress to sign on.

Wilcox is filing a lawsuit to challenge her firing, and we fully expect she will succeed in the courts and be restored to her position so she can continue to be a critical pro-worker voice on the NLRB.But until Wilcox is reinstated, when a worker is fired for trying to organize a union or an employer refuses to bargain with a union, all an employer would have to do is appeal—which would leave the worker in limbo indefinitely. Workers at Whole Foods, who recently voted for a union in Philadelphia are already seeing their election challenged because of the firing. We Have to Speak Up.So far, we have been able to get half of Congress to sign on, but need every Senator and Representative to do so. Please email your Senators and Representative now and urge them to sign this letter demanding Wilcox’s reinstatement.
