Machinists (IAM) Local S6 and Bath Iron Works in Maine have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. Local S6 represents approximately 4,250 of the shipyard’s 6,500 workers. The three-year contract includes pay raises, an increase in employer contributions to pension plans and higher health insurance premiums. During the last contract negotiations in 2020, the IAM went on strike in order to secure a contract, a tactic it won’t need to use if the tentative agreement is ratified.
