Wage theft is a major problem in Massachusetts, resulting in nearly $1 billion being stolen from workers annually through non-payment of wages; payments below the minimum or promised wage; non-payment of overtime; and misclassification of employees as independent contractors.

This is money stolen from families, communities, and the Commonwealth at a time when revenue is desperately needed. We can’t continue to let cheating companies gain an unfair advantage over those that play by the rules while workers struggle to pay the bills.
